Carpe Diem
With 3 children in high school, I had a great mid-life crisis plan; Leave the country! (Don't worry, they had their Dad). I enrolled in Apicius, a James Beard Academy, in Florence, Italy. Happy Heidi in her white chef's garb, grabbing dessert and a study session at "Il Giardino" (The Garden) down the block from culinary school. In Italy, you learn that simple, quality ingredients create the flavors that the whole world craves.

My beloved farmer in uncharted waters. A carpenter by trade, and all around Levi's and T-shirt guy, Mike's the man who can build, fix and make just about anything,( pictured here in his first and only sport coat on the deck during our honeymoon cruise). He is a humble artisan, hard worker and good neighbor. His love for growing organic fruits and vegetables pairs perfectly with his restaurant background and love of making good food. Two cooks in the house is definitely better than one.
